Professor Chen Yan (陈炎)

Introduction
Prof. Chen Yan was born in Beijing in 1957, entered the Department of Literature of Shandong University in 1978, and earned his B.A, M.A and PhD degree from it. He used to be the Dean and professor of School of Literature&Journalism, Doctoral supervisor of Literature and Art Specialty (Aesthetics orientation), Vice director of the Research Center for Literary Theory& Aesthetics, which is appointed to be Key Research Base for Humanities and Social Sciences of the National Universities under Ministry of Education. He is also the editor-in-chief responsible for Research of Literature, History and Philosophy.
Prof. Chen’s teaching and research interests mainly focus on Literature and Art Specialty (Aesthetics orientation) as well as theoretical exploration of Chinese traditional culture.
Prof. Chen is the author of more than 100 papers issued at academic journals locally and overseas, and has published a number of works. He is also the editor-in-chief of History of Chinese Aesthetics Culture as well as author of the 3rd volume. He has been invited to attend several international academic conferences in Japan, Korea, Singapore and Hong Kong, etc, and has been a visiting professor of Soochow University. In addition, two doctor candidates of Prof. Chen are joint-trained with overseas university, and this training approach of doctoral education will be continually explored.
