Professor Zhou Laixiang（周来祥）

Introduction：
Professor Zhou Laixiang was born in September 12, 1929 in Qingcheng county (Qingcheng Town, Gaoqing County), Shandong Province. He graduated from Department of Literature of Shandong University in May 1958. And in 1986, he was appointed doctoral supervisor by the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council.
In 1987, Professor Zhou founded the Research Institute of Aesthetics of Shandong University, acting as Director, and he was then promoted to Honorary Director of Research Center for Literature Theory ＆ Aesthetics of Shandong University in 2000, which is appointed to be Key Research Base for Humanities and Social Sciences of the National Universities under Ministry of Education. He also served the International Society of Aesthetics as a member of the 12th and 13th Executive Committee, Council Member of No.1-No.5 Chinese National Society of Aesthetics, President of Shandong Society of Aesthetics. Prof. Zhou also holds a concurrent post as doctoral supervisor of Peking Normal University.
Prof. Zhou has been focusing his teaching and research on Aesthetics, Literature, Literature and Art for more than fifty years. He is a prolific author who has published 20 works,  including Aesthetics Principles of Marxism-Leninism, Thesis of Aesthetics Issues, Beauty is Harmony, Ancient Beauty; Contemporary Beauty; Modern Beauty, Literary Theory and Aesthetics, On Chinese Classical Aesthetics, General History of Chinese Aesthetics Culture. His more than 270 papers issued at important academic journals locally and  overseas, for example, Social Science in China，make him establish his unique aesthetic theory system, of which core idea is “Beauty is Harmony”, known as the School of Harmonious Aesthetics among the academic circle.

Professor Zhou has won morn than 30 awards (first prize twice and 6 times of second prize at Province- and Ministry- level)
Award for Shandong Province Liu Xie Literature Criticism (3 times)
Shandong Province Premier Humanities and Social Science Outstanding Contributions Prize, 2007
Shandong Province Premier Scientific and Technological Top Talent, 1988 and regained it, 1993
Prof. Zhou is a State Council Special Allowance Expert, and has been selected into who is who in the world and International Directory of Outstanding Intellectuals (edited by the International Biographical Centre of Cambridge and America Biographical Institute). He also has been invited to attend the International Aesthetics Meeting for several times.
