The first MOOCs reform projects of Shandong University (SDU) were announced recently. As the only two approved projects in Literature and Journalism School, "the study of Verve Poetry" by Prof. Wang Xiaoshu and the project of "Public Relations" by Prof. Li Xinren will be funded by ¥20000 at the early stages. After construction period, the university will check the MOOCs projects and decide whether to support the follow-up fund or not, depending on the courses construction achievements.

MOOC is a kind of new pattern of online courses development. "M" means "massive". A MOOC can reach ten thousands of students or more on the internet. It is different from the traditional one, which can only meet dozens or hundreds of students face to face. "O" means "open". Regardless of major and nationality, just an email, you can register to participate in learning. The second "O" means "online". All your studies can be completed online without the limitation of time and space, and there is no need to travel as well. The last letter"C"refers to "course".

MOOC is a key project which is designed for the undergraduate education of our university. SDU will build an unified platform for the sharing, running, and teaching of MOOC and supply technical support and services for each course project.
