On the afternoon of December 16th, two Nobel laureates, Jean Marie Gustave Le Clézio and Mo Yan visited the Literature and Journalism School(LJS) and held friendly exchanges with the faculties and students. Jean Marie Gustave Le Clézio was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature in 2008 and Mo Yan won the Nobel Prize in Literature in 2012. Zheng Chun, dean of LJS, presided over the conversation. Famous translator Xu Jun, professor of Nanjing University, and Chen Yan, vice president of SDU, attended this activity. Professor Xiang Yixiao was invited as translator for this conversation.

Zheng Chun on behalf of the school welcomed the arrival of two Nobel laureates and professor Xu Jun and introduced every master’s experience and achievement. He pointed out that this is a memorable moment in the history of LJS. Mr. Le Clézio said that he is very glad to visit LJS and Shandong University faculty(SDU) and looks forward to discussing the literary world with the teachers and students. Mr. Mo Yan said frankly that he is the Chair Professor of SDU, therefore,returning to LJS he feel much at home. Mo began his speech with these humorous remarks. His opening received immediate applause and laughter from the audience. Prof. Xu Jun firstly talked about the experiences of "meet with great writers", and told everyone that "all the literary criticism should be starting from the text reading". During Q & A discussions, two Nobel laureates communicated and talked with teachers and students on some hot topics.

The conversation was divided into three parts: "creation", "theory" and "false or true". At the end of the conversation, prof. Zheng Chun expressed his sincere thanks to two masters for there arrival. Zheng stressed that two Nobel laureates' current visit on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of China-France diplomatic ties is of great significance. He hoped more and more classic literary works appear in the reader's view. He wished two writers can continue to enjoy the pleasure of writing. Finally, two writers gave inscriptions for LJS. The dialogue remained light and friendly and in an atmosphere of joy and warm came to an end, leaving behind an unlimited memory.
